Huángfǔ Fāng 皇甫汸 (1498–1582), Zǐxún 子循, hào Bǎiquán 百泉, of Chángzhōu 長洲 (Sūzhōu, Jiāngsū). Took the jìnshì in Jiājìng 8 (1529); rose to Bīngbù Sīxūn sī lángzhōng (Bureau Director of Merit Awards in the Board of War), from which his collection Huángfǔ sīxūn jí KR4e0188 takes its title. He is one of the Huángfǔ sìjié (“Four Huángfǔ Worthies”) — a four-brother Sūzhōu literary family — with elder brothers Huángfǔ Chōng 沖 and Huángfǔ Xiào 涍 (Huángfǔ shàoxuán jí KR4e0191 author) and younger brother Huángfǔ Lián 濂. He is also the author of the Bǎiquánzǐ xùlùn 百泉子緒論 (separately recorded in the Sìkù). The Sìkù tíyào’s verdict, citing Féng Shíkě’s Yǔháng zálù: Huángfǔ Fāng is QíLǔ (refined, change-knowing-the-Way), in contrast to Wáng Shìzhēn who is QínChǔ (strong, kingly). CBDB 30681 has 1503–1582 but standard references give 1498–1582, followed here.
