Mid- to late-Táng Buddhist scholar-monk of the Xī-jīng Chóng-shèng-sì 西京崇聖寺 (Cháng-ān). Lifedates unrecorded. Known only as the author of the Jīn-gāng bān-ruò jīng yī Tiān-qīn pú-sà lùn-zàn lüè-shì Qín-běn yì-jì 金剛般若經依天親菩薩論贊略釋秦本義記 (“Diamond-prajñā Sūtra: Record of the Meaning of the Qín-translation, Based on Vasubandhu Bodhisattva’s Treatise-Praise, Briefly Explained”; KR6c0108, T85 no. 2736), only the upper juan of which survives, recovered from Dūnhuáng. The work is a Yogācāra-school commentary that explicitly bases itself on Vasubandhu’s Vajracchedikā vyākhyā (T25 no. 1511) while interpreting Kumārajīva’s Chinese translation (秦本 = “Qín text”). Opens with the standard Táng wǔ-mén fivefold hermeneutic frame (biàn jiào yīn-yuán, dìng jīng zōng-zhǐ, míng chù-huì, xù fān-yì, zhèng shì wén-yì).
