Hú Yànshēng 胡彥昇, zì Zhúxuān 竹軒. Native of Déqīng 德清 (modern Zhèjiāng). Jìnshì of Yōngzhèng gēngxū 雍正庚戌 = 1730. Held office as Magistrate of Dìngtáo 定陶縣 (modern Shāndōng). His chief surviving work is the Yuèlǜ biǎowēi 樂律表微 (KR1i0019) in 8 juàn, an early-Qián-lóng music treatise notable for its careful treatment of xuángōng without resort to the speculative biànlǜ (derived pitches) tradition.
