Zhuāngzǐ 莊子 (莊周 Zhuāng Zhōu, ca. 369–286 BCE), Warring States Daoist philosopher and reputed author of the eponymous Zhuāngzǐ 莊子. Conventionally credited with the Nèi piān 內篇; the Wài piān 外篇 and Zá piān 雜篇 are now generally taken as later compilation. Cited in the Sìkù notice on KR1a0144 as the surprising target of 惠士奇 Huì Shìqí’s claim that Zhuāng Zhōu was “refined in the ” — an attribution the editors reject as unscriptural.
