Yè Dàqìng 葉大慶 (fl. early 13th century), zì Róngfǔ 榮甫. CBDB id 49818 (no dates registered). The Sòng shǐ gives no biography and the Sòng shǐ Yìwén zhì does not record his work; the Sìkù editors reconstructed both his life and his book from two prefaces preserved in the Yǒnglè dàdiǎn: one by Yè Wǔzǐ 葉武子 of Qiáoyáng 樵陽 dated Bǎoqìng bǐngxū (1226), and one by his son Yè Shìzhī 葉釋之 dated Chúnyòu jiǎchén (1244). From these we know that Yè Dàqìng made his reputation in the Southern Sòng exam-preparation circles for his command of the cífù 詞賦 form, and that he served as Education Officer (zhōuxué jiàoshòu 州學教授) at Jiànzhōu 建州 (modern Jiàn’ōu 建甌, Fújiàn). His native place is not recorded in either preface.
The Sìkù editors estimate that he was born after Chéng Dàchāng 程大昌 (whose Kǎogǔ biān 攷古編 he silently emulates) and lived into the Nízōng / Lǐzōng transition. His son’s 1244 preface notes that the father had drafted the manuscript three times and never felt confident enough in it to commit to print; the work was nevertheless engraved at Jiànzhōu by another Yè gentleman shortly before the father’s death, and re-cut after the original woodblocks had become illegible.
Within the Kanripo corpus he is the author of KR3j0047 Kǎogǔ zhìyí 攷古質疑 (6 juan in the Sìkù recompilation; the original juan count is unrecoverable).
