Xuē Gǔyú 薛古愚 (“Old-and-Foolish” Xuē), mid-Míng physician of the Xuē 薛 family medical lineage of Kūnshān 崑山 (Jiāngsū). Author of the Jìyīn wànjīn shū 濟陰萬金書 (in three juǎn, on women’s medicine), preserved through family transmission and edited into its received form in 1569 (Lóngqìng 3) by his marriage-heir Zhèng Fūzhèng 鄭敷政 of Píngqiáo Kūnshān. The received text is KR3ei033 Xuēshì jìyīn wànjīn shū. Whether Xuē Gǔyú is identical with or related to the famous Xuē Jǐ 薛己 (1487–1559, 薛己) — also of the Sūzhōu / Kūnshān prefecture — is not established in the prefatorial evidence.
