Xuē Yújī 薛虞畿, zì Shùnxiáng 舜祥, Míng-period scholar of Hǎiyáng 海陽 in Cháozhōufǔ 潮州府 (modern Cháo’ān 潮安, Guǎngdōng), as identified by Hú Xún 胡恂’s Cháozhōu fǔzhì and confirmed in Zhū Yízūn 朱彝尊’s 1701 colophon to the Chūnqiū bièdiǎn 春秋別典 (KR2d0015). The Sìkù tíyào notes that he signed his preface “of Yuèyíng” 粵瀛 — “Yuèyíng” being an old name for Cháozhōu (originally “Dōngyángzhōu” 東陽州, then “Yíngzhōu” 瀛州 in the Liáng), accounting for the otherwise puzzling self-identification. Initially a zhūshēng 諸生, he later abandoned exam-track and retired to the foot of Mt. Hán 韓山 to pursue agricultural pursuits; when local magistrates wished to summon him to office, he is said to have “broken through the wall and fled” (鑿垣而遁). His chief surviving work is the Chūnqiū bièdiǎn 春秋別典 in 15 juǎn (compiled by him and brought to completion by his younger brother Xuē Yúbīn 薛虞賓 after his death). He also authored a Tīngyǔ péng gǎo 聽雨蓬稿 (a collection of essays). Not in CBDB.
