Pseudonym of the author of KR4k0271 Qǐlóu Chóng Mèng 綺樓重夢, a sequel to Hónglóu Mèng 紅樓夢. The pen name means “Master of the Orchid Bank” (lán 蘭 = orchid; gāo 臯 = riverbank, marsh-land). The preface to the novel is dated Jiaqing yǐchǒu (嘉慶乙丑, 1805), which establishes a terminus ante quem for the author’s activity. Beyond this, nothing further is known about the person behind the pseudonym; the name does not appear in CBDB or in standard biographical dictionaries of Qing authors.
