Yuán Cǎi 袁采 (Sòng), Jūnzài 君載, was a Southern Sòng official of Xìnān 信安 (Qúzhōu 衢州 region, Zhèjiāng). Jìnshì; held three terms as Magistrate of large counties (jùyì 劇邑), serving with renown for liánmíng gāngzhí 廉明剛直 (purity, clarity, uprightness). Reached the metropolitan office of Jiān Dēngwén jiǎnyuàn 監登聞檢院 (Supervisor of the Bureau Reviewing Petitions). His best-known surviving work is the Yuánshì shì fàn 袁氏世範 (KR3a0040, originally titled Xùn sú 訓俗 — “Instructions on Custom” — and renamed Shì fàn “Family Standard” by his colleague Liú Zhèn 劉鎮 of Lèqīng), composed during his term as Magistrate of Lèqīng 樂清 (a date conventionally given as Chúnxī 5, 1178; the catalog meta gives a date of 1163, less likely). He also wrote a Lèqīng xiànzhì 樂清縣志 in 10 juan (now lost), and the Zhènghé zá zhì 政和雜志 and Xiànlìng xiǎolù 縣令小錄 (also lost) per Wáng Qǐ 王圻’s Xù wén xiàn tōng kǎo. CBDB id 35263, no dates.
