Southern-Sòng official, courtesy name Yànchún 彥純, native of Qìngyuán 慶元 (= Míngzhōu 明州 / modern Níngbō 寧波). CBDB id 10334 attests his name and dynasty; lifedates conventionally given as 1170–1240 on the basis of his Sòngshǐ biography (juàn 415). He took the jìnshì in Chúnxī 13 (1186), was appointed Sub-prefect of Wújiāng 吳江, and rose through Cānzhī zhèngshì 參知政事 (deputy chancellor); on his death he was posthumously made Tàishī 太師 with the enfeoffment of Yuèguógōng 越國公. He served as Prefect of Línān 知臨安府 (concurrent with high metropolitan office) and is principally remembered for his cultural patronage of the Hángzhōu region during his prefectship: the Qiántáng xiānxián zhuànzàn 錢塘先賢傳贊 (KR2g0026) was prepared in Bǎoqìng bǐngxū (1226) on the occasion of his memorializing for, and establishing, a shrine to the 39 xiānxián of Qiántáng (Hángzhōu) at the foot of the South Hill north of the new dyke.
