Zhū Jǐn 諸錦
Zì Xiāngqī 襄七, hào Cǎolú 草廬 (also 孚文 Fúwén); studio name Jiàngfūgé 絳跗閣 (“Crimson-Calyx Pavilion”). Native of Xiùshuǐ 秀水 (Jiāxīng prefecture, Zhèjiāng). Jìnshì of Yōngzhèng 2 (1724); selected shùjíshì 庶吉士; after dismissal from the Hanlin Academy he served briefly as a county magistrate. Summoned to the bóxué hóngcí 博學鴻詞 special examination of Qiánlóng 1 (1736) and passed; made Hanlin biānxiū 編修 and subsequently zuǎnxiū 纂修 on the Sānlǐguǎn 三禮館 (Bureau of the Three Ritual Classics).
Served as chief examiner for the Fújiàn provincial examination (1741), deputy examiner in Shānxī (1747), and chief examiner in Guìzhōu (1750), retiring at the rank of zuǒ zànshàn 左贊善 of the Left Spring Office. Enrolled in the shrine of local worthies of Xiùshuǐ in Jiāqìng 23 (1818).
Surviving works: Bǔ xiǎnglǐ 補饗禮 (KR1d0043, 1 juan, WYG; originally titled Xiǎnglǐ bǔwáng 饗禮補亡), Máoshī shuō 毛詩說, Xià xiǎo zhèng gǔ 夏小正詁 (also titled Xià xiǎo zhèng zhù 夏小正注), and the poetry collection Jiàngfūgé shīgǎo 絳跗閣詩稿.
Caution: his studio name Jiàngfūgé is sometimes confused with Yíshāntáng 飴山堂 (the studio of Zhào Zhíxìn 趙執信) in unreliable biographical compilations; the two are unrelated.
