Chì sōng zǐ 赤松子 (“Master Red-Pine”) is one of the earliest legendary xiān 仙 (immortals) of the Chinese tradition, traditionally said to be the rain-master (yǔ shī 雨師) of the Shén nóng / Yellow-Thearch era, who ingested shuǐ yù 水玉 (water-jade) and ascended in a fire. Cited in the Liè xiān zhuàn 列仙傳 (attributed to Liú Xiàng 劉向) and countless Daoist scriptures thereafter. Many Six-Dynasties and Táng Daoist texts are pseudepigraphically attributed to him, including KR5c0306 Shàng qīng jiǔ zhēn zhōng jīng nèi jué.
