Yuán statesman of Tangut (黨項 / 西夏 stock; zì Zǐjìng 子敬, posthumous name Wénzhōng 文忠; 1260–1336). His biography is in Yuánshǐ 元史 180. By the time of the Tàidìng 1 (1324) preface to the [[KR5a0316|Máoshān zhì 茅山志]], Zhào held the offices Jíxián dàxuéshì 集賢大學士 (“Grand Academician of the Hall of Assembled Worthies”) and Guānglù dàfū 光祿大夫 (“Grandee of the Glorious Salary”), self-identifying in the signature as “XīQín Zhào Shìyán” 西秦趙世延 (“Zhào Shìyán of Western Qín”). He served under successive emperors Chéngzōng 成宗, Wǔzōng 武宗, Rénzōng 仁宗, Yīngzōng 英宗, Tàidìngdì 泰定帝, and Wénzōng 文宗, holding such senior offices as Zhōngshū píngzhāng zhèngshì 中書平章政事 and Yùshǐ dàfū 御史大夫. His role in the Máoshān zhì preface — extolling the imperial favours bestowed on Liú Dàbīn 劉大彬 — reflects the close patronage relationship between the Yuán élite (Confucian and Tangut) and the Máoshān 茅山 Shàngqīng 上清 lineage in the early fourteenth century. CBDB lifedates 1260–1336 confirmed (c_personid 28578).
