Early-Míng paleographer, original name Zhào Gǔzé 趙古則 (later changed to Huīqiān 撝謙), of Yúyáo 餘姚 (modern Ningbo, Zhejiang). Descendant of the Sòng Qín Dàohuìwáng 秦悼惠王. In early Hóngwǔ summoned to participate in compiling the Hóngwǔ zhèngyùn 洪武正韻; doctrinally at odds with the consensus, he was sent out as Zhōngdū Guózǐjiàn bù; dismissed and went home; later recommended as Qióngshānxiàn jiàoyù. His career is in the Míngshǐ Wényuàn zhuàn. Two surviving works: the Liùshū běnyì KR1j0043 in 12 juàn (a paleographic dictionary that reduces Xǔ Shèn’s 許愼 540 Shuōwén radicals to 360, broadly extending Zhèng Qiáo’s 鄭樵 Liùshū lüè doctrine); and the now-lost Xuéfàn liù piān. CBDB lifedates 1351–1395, in agreement with the standard biographical sources.
