Zhào Qiān 趙遷 (fl. late 8th c.) was a Táng official of the Hónglúsì 鴻臚寺 (Court of State Ceremonial), the agency responsible for foreign relations and the management of imperial-monastic protocol. He is known principally as the author of the Dà Táng gù dàdé zèng Sīkōng Dàbiànzhèng Guǎngzhì Bùkōng sānzàng xíngzhuàng (KR6r0046), the formal xíngzhuàng (funerary “conduct record”) of 不空 (Amoghavajra, 705–774), composed shortly after Amoghavajra’s death in his official capacity. The text supplies the documentary basis for Amoghavajra’s posthumous titles and is one of the principal contemporary sources for the great Táng esoteric master.
No further biographical data is securely preserved.
