Late-Míng Chán monk of Guǎngzhōufǔ 廣州府, ménrén 門人 and shìzhě 侍者 of Hānshān Déqīng 德清; Ruòxǐng 若惺, hào Jìān 寄庵. According to Déqīng’s own Zìxù niánpǔ 自序年譜 (entry for Wànlì 41 / 1613): “in my 68th year — when I first came to Guǎng[dōng], dharma-disciples who followed me numbered several tens, but with time they gradually fell away; only Tōngjiōng and Chāoyì [超逸], through wind and waves and sickness, have stayed by my side without leaving.” Served as shǒuzuò 首座 at Wǔrǔsì 五乳寺. Principal editor of the Hānshān lǎorén mèngyóu jí (KR6q0386), working up into a compiled collection the shìzhě daily-records kept by fellow disciple Fúshàn 福善.
