Late Northern Sòng / early Southern Sòng art historian; a man of Shuāngliú 雙流 in Shǔ 蜀 (modern Sìchuān). Active in the Shàoxīng through Qiándào decades (c. 1127–1170s). Grandson of Dèng Xúnwǔ 鄧洵武 (d. 1121), who served Huīzōng as Zhī Shūmìyuàn shì during the Zhènghé era when imperial patronage of painting was at its height; the family inherited a substantial portion of the Huīzōng academy’s painting record. Author of KR3h0030 Huàjì 畫繼 (1167), the third installment in the great Chinese art-historical succession after Zhāng Yànyuǎn KR3h0009 and Guō Ruòxū KR3h0017, covering the period 1074–1167 in 219 painters. The work is the principal source for the painters of the Huīzōng academy and the early Southern Sòng Lín’ān court. Dèng Chūn’s son or grandson Dèng Gōng 鄧公 (or 鄧公夀) and Dèng’s family painting tradition continued in Shǔ.
