Best known for his 1074 Liúmín tú 流民圖 (“Refugees Picture”) — a graphic representation of starving displaced peasants painted on silk and submitted with a memorial to Shénzōng denouncing the social devastation caused by Wáng Ānshí’s New Policies (xīnfǎ 新法), particularly the Green Sprouts and Hired-Service laws. The image is said to have moved the emperor to tears and contributed to Wáng’s first dismissal in 1074.
