Zhèng Fāngkūn 鄭方坤
Sobriquet Lìxiāng 荔鄉. Native of Jiàn’ān 建安 in Fújiàn. Jìnshì of Yōngzhèng guǐmǎo (1723; the catalog meta carries this date as the work’s date — it is in fact Zhèng’s jìnshì date). He served in a series of provincial posts, rising to Yǎnzhōu fǔ zhīfǔ 兗州府知府 (Prefect of Yǎnzhōu in Shāndōng).
His scholarship is in the broad eighteenth-century kǎozhèng mainstream — a careful, citation-rich, philologically-conscientious style without major methodological innovation. Beyond the Jīng bài 經稗 (KR1g0025) on canonical scholarship, he produced the Quán Mín shī huà 全閩詩話 (a comprehensive collection of poetry-commentary on Fújiàn poets), the Bǔ Wǔdài shī huà 補五代詩話 (supplements to Wǔdài shī huà), and the Lǐnghǎi shī huà 嶺海詩話. He is in scholarly posterity as much a shī huà (poetry-criticism) writer as a classical scholar; the Jīng bài is his single substantial contribution to jīngxué.
