Zhèng Zhēn 鄭眞 (also written 鄭真; c. 1310s–c. 1390s; CBDB 100237 records fl. 1372 only; catalog correction: earlier person-note “d. 1372” was a misreading of the CBDB fl. date — Zhèng was demonstrably alive and active as Guǎngxìnfǔ jiàoshòu after his Hóngwǔ 4 / 1371 xiāngshì first-place), Qiānzhī 千之, alt. Yuánshàn 元善, hào Yíngyángwàishǐ 滎陽外史 (from the Zhèng-clan ancestral seat at Xíngyáng 滎陽 in Hénán), native of Yín 鄞 county (modern Níngbō 寧波), Zhèjiāng. Pupil of 吳澄 Wú Chéng 吳澄 in his Yuán years; placed first in Hóngwǔ 4 (1371) xiāngshì; appointed Línhuái xiàn jiàoyù 臨淮縣教諭; promoted to Guǎngxìnfǔ jiàoshòu 廣信府教授. With elder brother Zhèng Jū 駒 and younger brother Zhèng Fèng 鳳 — the Zhèng sānxiōngdì 鄭三兄弟 — dominated the early-Hóngwǔ Sìmíng (Níngbō) literary establishment. Initially of equal literary repute with Sòng Lián 宋濂 (the two jointly composed the Péizhōng Zhùcúntáng jì 裴中著存堂記; Zhèng’s piece was completed first, and Sòng Lián laid down his brush in deference); but Sòng’s later official ascent and Zhèng’s continued career as regional xuéguān shaped the asymmetric reception. The Sìkù editors’ explicit rehabilitation in the Tíyào to KR4e0070 Xíngyáng wàishǐ jí is the principal modern revaluation. Within the Kanripo corpus: KR4e0070 Xíngyáng wàishǐ jí 滎陽外史集 (撰, original 100 juǎn, surviving 63 juǎn in WYG); co-compiler of KR4d0382 Sìmíng wénxiàn jí 四明文獻集 (with 陳朝 Chén Cháo). CBDB 100237; duplicate 132386 is the same person. The Kanripo catalog meta variously writes 鄭眞 (older) and 鄭真 (standard).
