The Qián family 錢氏 of Shānyīn 山陰 (Shàoxīng 紹興, Zhèjiāng) — a MíngQīng shìyī 世醫 hereditary obstetrical lineage in eastern Zhèjiāng, repeatedly paired in late-Qīng obstetrical prefaces with the Bamboo-Grove Monastery monks (Zhúlínsì sēng 竹林寺僧, see KR3ei046) of Xiāoshān 蕭山 as the “two great Zhèjiāng women’s-medicine schools.” The family is named in the preface to Chén Hùān 陳笏庵’s Tāichǎn mìshū (KR3ei054) — by Hé Róng 何榮 of 古虞, dated Jiāqìng 14 (1809) — as having monopolised the local obstetrical market for generations, with their formulary kept as a closely guarded family secret. The Qián family’s hereditary manuscript surfaced under the title KR3ei052 Qiánshì mìchuán chǎnkē fāngshū míng Shìyàn lù 錢氏秘傳產科方書名試驗錄, transmitted anonymously under the family name. Not the same as the famous Sòng paediatrician Qián Yǐ 錢乙 of Xiǎoér yàozhèng zhíjué fame. No individual Qián-family member can be securely identified; not in CBDB as a lineage.
