Chén Xiūyuán 陳修園 (1753–1823), personal name Chén Niànzǔ 陳念祖, was a Qiánlóng-Jiāqìng-era physician of Chánglè 長樂 (Fújiàn) and one of the most widely-circulated late-Qīng popular medical authors. He served briefly as a county magistrate in Héběi before retiring to medical teaching at the Jǐngshū yuàn 井書院 in Fúzhōu. His Yīxué sān zì jīng 醫學三字經, Yīxué shízài yì 醫學實在易, and abridgments of 張機 Zhāng Zhòngjǐng’s Shānghán lùn and Jīnguì yàoluè — together collected as the Nánnán Chén shì yīshū sānshíèr zhǒng 南雅陳氏醫書三十二種 — were the standard primers of late-Qīng popular medical education and remained in print throughout the Republican period. He was the principal transmitter of the 張志聰 Zhāng Zhìcōng Lǚshān jiǎngtáng doctrinal line south of the Yangtze.
