Chén Yuán 陳垣

Modern Chinese historian (1880–1971), specialist of Chinese religious history, palaeography, and historical bibliography. Author of foundational studies on Chinese Buddhism including Míngjì Diān-Qián Fójiào kǎo 明季滇黔佛教考 (1940), on late-Míng Buddhism in Yúnnán and Guìzhōu.
