Chén Lǎng 陳朗 (fl. 乾隆 period, 18th century), style name Xiǎoshān 曉山, pen name Jìnghú Yìsǒu 鏡湖逸叟 (“Leisured Old Man of Mirror Lake”), is the author of the Qīng-dynasty novel KR4k0266 Xuě Yuè Méi 雪月梅 (1775). From his self-preface, it is known that he was a widely traveled man who had journeyed north through the Yān 燕 and Qí 齊 regions and south into Fújiàn 閩 and Guǎngdōng 粵, composing the novel in his old age at the Sōngyuè Shānfáng 松月山房 in Gǔjūnyáng 古鈞陽 (present-day Jūn county area, Hénán). The postface author Dǒng Jìmián 董寄綿 (of Gǔdìngyáng 古定陽) addresses him as “Xiǎoshān Chénzǐ 曉山陳子.” No further biographical details are known. The CBDB database records three homonymous entries (CBDB 289398, 371749, 505863) that cannot be identified with this author.
