Chén Shùnyú 陳舜俞 (字 Lìngjǔ 令舉, 號 Báiniú jūshì 白牛居士, ?–1075), Northern-Sòng official-scholar and lay Buddhist; native of Wūchéng 烏程 (Húzhōu region).

He passed the jìnshì in Qìnglì 6 (1046) and took first place in the imperial Zhìkē 制科 special examination in Jiāyòu 4 (1059) — a major scholarly distinction. Served at court and in the provinces, rising to Dūguān yuánwàiláng 都官員外郎. He was politically allied with Sīmǎ Guāng 司馬光’s Yuányòu faction and opposed Wáng Ānshí’s 王安石 Xīníng 熙寧 reforms (after 1069); his subsequent demotion led to his retreat to Mount Lú 廬山, where he composed the 《廬山記》 Lúshān jì (KR6r0130, T2095, 5 juan, ca. 1071–1075). He died in 1075.
