Qīng huá shàng dì 青華上帝 / Nán-jí tiān-gōng Qīng-huá shàng-dì 南極天宮青華上帝 (“Imperial Lord of Green-Floriate, of the Heaven-Palace of the Southern Pole”) — Daoist cult-deity, identified in the Sòng-Yuán Líng-bǎo / Léi-fǎ tradition with Tài-yǐ jiù-kǔ tiān-zūn 太乙救苦天尊 (“Heavenly Worthy of the Great One Saving from Suffering”), the salvific Daoist deity who descends to deliver the dead from the underworld torments. From the Sòng his cult became the principal Daoist counterpart to the Buddhist Avalokiteśvara: a zhěn-jiù (succouring) deity who responds to invocation. In the Qīng fú-jī cult he is one of the principal speaking-personae, particularly in the Léi-fǎ / Thunder-Magic tradition. He is the planchette-revealer of KR5i0030 Chàng dào zhēn yán, a major mid-Qīng inner-alchemical compendium dated 1729. Standard reference: Schipper-Verellen, The Taoist Canon, on DZ 73 Tài shàng dòng xuán líng bǎo jiù kǔ miào jīng and the Tài-yǐ Jiù-kǔ corpus.
