Pínpósuōluó wáng 頻婆娑羅王 (Bimbisāra, c. 558–491 BCE), king of Magadha and patron of the historical Buddha. Father of Ajātaśatru, who according to canonical tradition imprisoned and killed him. He is a frequent narrative figure in early Mahāyāna sūtra literature, including the Ajātaśatru cycle (T626 and parallels) and the Pure Land Guān Wúliángshòu jīng.
