Kōhō Kennichi 高峰顯日 (1241–1316) — Late-Kamakura Japanese Rinzai-Zen master, second son of Emperor Go-Saga 後嵯峨天皇. Posthumous imperial title Bukkoku Zenji 佛國禪師 (“Buddha-Country Zen Master”); also styled Bukkoku Ōgu Kōsai Kokushi 佛國應供廣濟國師 (“Buddha-Country Field-of-Offering Universal-Salvation National Master”).
A dharma-heir of 祖元 Wúxué Zǔyuán (Mugaku Sogen) at Engaku-ji. As the dharma-master of Musō Soseki 夢窓疎石 (1275–1351) — the great Gozan patriarch — Kōhō stands at the foundational node of the dominant medieval Japanese Rinzai-Zen lineage. Resided at Manjū-ji 萬壽寺, Engaku-ji 圓覺寺, and Jōchi-ji 淨智寺 in Kamakura. Died 1316, age 76.
His Recorded Sayings — Bukkoku Zenji goroku 佛國禪師語錄 (KR6t0257, T80n2551) — two fascicles, were compiled by his disciples Myōkan 妙環 and others.
