Féng Fùjīng 馮復京

Sìzōng 嗣宗. Native of Chángshú 常熟 (Hǎiyú 海虞, Sūzhōu, modern Jiāngsū). 1573–1622 (CBDB). Nephew of the better-known late-Míng official-scholar Féng Yīngjīng 馮應京 (1555–1606), with whom he is sometimes confused in the bibliographic tradition.

Author of the Liù jiā Shī míngwù shū 六家詩名物疏 in 55 juǎn (KR1c0039), an exhaustive catalog of the Shī jīng’s natural-history, ritual, and material vocabulary, building on Cài Biàn 蔡卞’s earlier Shī míngwù shū. The work circulated under Jiāo Hóng 焦竑’s preface dated Wànlì yǐsì (1605), which directly addresses Féng Fùjīng — settling the question of attribution against the rival Sìkù tíyào line that names Féng Yīngjīng instead. Modern scholarship overwhelmingly accepts the Féng Fùjīng attribution; the Sìkù WYG tíyào itself names Féng Fùjīng. The Kyoto Zinbun digital tíyào’s “明馮應京撰” is an editorial intrusion against the WYG copy.
