Bào Róng 鮑溶 ( Déyuán 德源, lifedates not securely fixed; jìnshì of Yuánhé 4 = 809). Career details unrecorded in the Xīn Tángshū. Bào was reckoned a major figure in his own day — Zhāng Wèi’s 張為 Zhǔkè tú 主客圖 (a late-Táng or Wǔdài school-of-poetry typology) makes Bào the zhǔ (host / leader) of the bójiě hóngbá (broad-explanatory, generously-extracting) school, with Lǐ Qúnyù 李羣玉 as his shàng rùshì (top disciple) and Sīmǎ Tuìzhī as another rùshì-rank disciple. His later reception was modest, partly because his collection’s transmission was damaged: the Sòng Shǐguǎn old recension was 5 juǎn, mistakenly attributed to Bào Fáng 鮑防; Zēng Gǒng 曾鞏 corrected the attribution against the Táng wéncuì and added 33 pieces from Ōuyáng Xiū’s holding.

Principal work in the corpus: Bào Róng shī jí KR4c0071 in 6 juǎn + wàijí 1 juǎn, the post-Zēng-Gǒng recovery line. CBDB id 94860 has no dates.
