Huáng Chūn 黃櫄

Shífū 實夫. Native of Lóngxī 龍溪 (modern Zhāngzhōu 漳州, Fújiàn). Twelfth-century Shī scholar; lifedates not recoverable. In Chúnxī 淳熙 (1174–89) he sat the imperial shèxuǎn 舍選 selection examination and rose through both jìnshì grades; appointed Instructor of Nánjiànzhōu 南劍州 prefecture; final office Xuānjiào láng 宣教郎.

Author of Shī jiě 詩解 in 20 juǎn and a Zǒnglùn 總論 in 1 juǎn, surviving as the second layer of KR1c0012 Máoshī LǐHuáng jíjiě 毛詩李黃集解 (paired with 李樗 Lǐ Chū’s larger Máoshī xiángjiě 毛詩詳解). On the small preface he takes the position of Wáng Ānshí 王安石 and the Chéng brothers — that the could only have been made by a sage and is therefore wholly authoritative — diametrically opposed to Lǐ Chū’s Sū-Zhé-derived layered- hypothesis. The two commentaries thus complement each other in form but disagree fundamentally on the central question of Sòng Shī exegesis.
