世親

Vasubandhu (Shìqīn 世親; also Tiānqīn 天親; transcribed 婆藪槃豆 Pósǒupándòu) — c. 4th–5th century Indian Buddhist master, brother of Asaṅga 無著 and one of the founding figures of the Yogācāra school. Author of the Abhidharmakośa 俱舍論, the Triṃśikāvijñaptimātratā 唯識三十頌, and numerous commentaries and treatises on Mahāyāna sūtras; in the East-Asian tradition many upadeśa-style commentaries are attributed to him. The historical biography is complex: traditional sources speak of a single Vasubandhu but modern scholarship (Frauwallner 1951) distinguishes an “earlier” Sarvāstivāda-Yogācāra master from a “younger” Mahāyāna author.
