Kubota Seimitsu 久保田晴光 (Chinese: Jiǔbǎotián Qíngguāng, 1879–1944), early-Shōwa Japanese pharmacologist. Affiliated with the South Manchurian Railway Research Department (滿鐵調査部) and active in Mukden (奉天) and other northern Chinese cities during the late 1920s and 1930s. Author of the Kan’yaku kenkyū kōyō 漢藥研究綱要 (“Outline of Research on Chinese Drugs”, KR3ec079) — a comprehensive Japanese-language survey of the Chinese materia medica based on first-hand pharmacy inspections in Fèngtiān, Yíngkǒu, Qízhōu, and Tiānjīn, with comparative tabulations of which substances were stocked in which Chinese pharmacy chains. The work is the principal early-20th-century Japanese pharmacological survey of the actual Chinese drug market and is an important documentary source for the historical pharmacology of north China in the 1930s.
