Yú Xī 余熂 (active late 14th c.), native of Xīnān 新安 (Huīzhōu prefecture, modern Ānhuī). Pupil of 殷奎 Yīn Kuí 殷奎 — Yú travelled from his native Xīnān to Kūnshān 崑山 to study under Yīn at the county rúxué. After Yīn’s death in 1376, Yú compiled his teacher’s literary collection KR4e0058 Qiángzhāi jí 強齋集 (nine juǎn of Yīn’s verse and prose plus one juǎn of memorial materials). Later examined and rose to jìnshì in the metropolitan examinations, served in jìnshì (near-court) posts. The Qiángzhāi jí original preface notes Yú’s later official career and his repeated mourning leaves during which he returned home and supplemented the compilation.
