Xìnān 信庵
A late-Qīng Wǔlín 武林 (Hangzhou) monk active in the late Tóngzhì 同治 / early Guāngxù 光緒 reigns. Author of the 《修西輯要》 Xiūxī jí yào KR6p0122 (X1203), a single-juǎn Pure Land devotional anthology that selects and arranges the principal pastoral and doctrinal passages of the late-imperial Pure Land patristic tradition. The work was prefaced and edited for publication in Guāngxù 10 (1884) by his colleague Běnpǔ 本普, who frames Xìnān’s editorial choices as foregrounding the tālì 他力 (other-power) doctrine of 智顗 Tiāntái Zhìyǐ’s Shí yí lùn KR6p0008 over the more zìlì (self-power) Pure Land anthological alternatives.
