Yuáncháng 元長 (1284–1357), hào Qiānyán 千巖, Yuán-dynasty LínjìYángqí chánshī and one of the most prominent masters of the late-Yuán Zhèjiāng Chán scene. Shìhào (Yuán imperial title) Pǔyīng guóshī 普應國師. Native of Wūshāng / Yìwū 義烏 (Zhèjiāng); lay surname Dǒng 董. Dharma-heir of Zhōngfēng Míngběn 中峰明本 (1263–1323) at Tiānmùshān 天目山. Mid-life relocation to Wūshāng Fúlóngshān 烏傷伏龍山 in Yìwū, where he transformed the wilderness retreat into a major monastic center with several thousand disciples — xiáěr xuézǐ wàngfēng bēncòu, céng wèi jǐ hé, huà huāngxū wéi lóuguān, yì liáokōng wéi jīnbì 遐邇學子望風奔湊曾未幾何化荒墟為樓觀易寥空為金碧 (per Sòng Lián’s preface to KR6q0460). Work. KR6q0460 《千巖和尚語錄》 1 juan, Jiāxīng Canon J32 B273, recorded by dìzǐ Sìzhào 嗣詔. The original Yuán-era recension was lost in the YuánMíng transition warfare (jiān shī jì rùjì, bīngxiǎn fāng zhāng, suǒ wèi yǔlù zhě jiē wèi wēijìn, jīng jīn shí yǒu yú nián 既師入寂兵燹方張所謂語錄者皆為煨燼經今十有餘年); reconstituted from an old manuscript by Yuáncháng’s longtime attendant Yīān Lín shàngrén 一庵鄰上人 and re-cut with a new preface by Sòng Lián dated Hóngwǔ 9 / 8/25 = 1376-09-08 Gregorian.
