八思巴

‘Phags-pa (Bāsībā 八思巴, 1235–1280), Tibetan Sa-skya hierarch and Imperial Preceptor (帝師) of the Yuán Mongol court under Khubilai Khan. Devised the ‘Phags-pa script used as an official script of the Yuán; oversaw the Sino-Tibetan-Sanskrit translation apparatus that produced numerous Yuán-period dhāraṇī recensions.
