Liú Rénběn 劉仁本 (d. 1368), Déyuán 德元, hào Yǔtíng 羽庭. Native of Tiāntái 天台 (Zhèjiāng). Yuán jìnshì yǐkē. Career sequentially up to Wēnzhōulù zǒngguǎn, JiāngZhè xíngshěng zuǒyòusī lángzhōng. With Fāng Guózhēn 方國珍 holding WēnTái at the close of the Yuán; brought into his mùfǔ. The post he held under Fāng — jiē Yuán suǒ shòu (was that conferred by the Yuán) — gù jí zhōng zhūzuò — dàdū gǎnkǎi ānwēi — juànhuái Wángshì. Like Luō Yǐn 羅隱 serving the WúYuè — shí xīn bù wàng Táng — Liú followed Fāng intending to borrow his force to act — gradually planning xīngfù. His Zèng Lǐ yuánwài zì Jíqìng huí Hénán shī: “Hànbīng zǎo yǐ dìng Zhōnghuá — SūnShù yóu míng jǐngdǐwā” — direct denunciation of Ming Tàizǔ. When Fāng was defeated and Liú captured, he held firm under torture; whipped on the back until the flesh broke open, died. Therefore Liú zhōngshǐ Yuánrén (was throughout an Yuán-loyalist) — never entered Míng. The Yǒnglè dàdiǎn listing as “Guócháo Liú Rénběn” is in error. Studied with Zhào Sù 趙俶, Xiè Lǐ 謝理, Zhū Yòu 朱右 etc.; once commanded troops at Yúyáo and built Yúyǒngtíng 雩詠亭 at the left foot of Lóngquán, imitating the Lántíng scene — collected the era’s wénshì for xiūxì; the stele still exists. His prose serves as supplementary source for events of Fāng Guózhēn and Cháhǎntièmùěr (Qiánlóng: CháhǎnTièmùěr) embassy-exchange — bǔ shǐquē.
