Early-Qīng disciple of Wáng Shìzhēn 王士禎; precise birth and death dates are not recorded in the standard biographical sources and no CBDB record can be confidently matched. He is known almost exclusively as the compiler of the Shīyǒu shīzhuàn xù lù 師友詩傳續錄 (the second juǎn of KR4i0059), recording his exchanges of poetic questions and answers with Wáng Shìzhēn alone (where Láng Tínghuái 郎廷槐’s first juǎn had questioned three masters of the Shāndōng circle, Liú’s continuation is restricted to Wáng). His questions cover prosody (the qīngzhuó and yìyáng distinctions), the technique of five- and seven-syllable old-style verse, and Wáng’s shényùn programme as expressed in the Tángxián sānmèi jí 唐賢三昧集.
