Liú Xuàn 劉炫
Zì Guāngbó 光伯. Late-Suí 隋 classicist of remarkable erudition, native of Hèjiān 河間 (modern Héběi). Together with Liú Zhuó 劉焯 — the “two Liús” (èr Liú 二劉) of Suí classical learning — he stands at the boundary between Northern Dynasties and early-Táng exegesis. His Wing-by-Wing yì essays on the canonical classics were a principal underlying source for the Táng Wǔ jīng zhèngyì 五經正義 commission of 孔穎達 Kǒng Yǐngdá; the jiān yì 兼義 (“supplementary meaning”) marginal heading at the openings of the Zhèngyì juàn-divisions is taken by the Sìkù tiyao of KR1a0007 to reflect this older-essay layer that the Táng commission absorbed.
