Liú Ruòjīn 劉若金 (hào Yúnmì 雲密, 1584–1665), late-Míng / early-Qīng physician. Author of the Běncǎo shù 本草述 (30 juǎn, completed in 1664), an ambitious pharmacopoeia attempting to integrate the qìwèishēngjiàng 氣味升降 doctrine of the JīnYuán four masters with the Běnjīng substance corpus. The work’s prose was famously verbose (“文辭蔓衍，讀者幾莫測其所歸”) and it circulated only patchily; it was rescued from obscurity by 楊時泰’s critical condensation, the Běncǎo shù gōuyuán 本草述鉤元 (KR3ec052, printed posthumously 1842).
