Northern Sòng art historian; a man of Dàliáng 大梁 (Kāifēng). Active in the Jiāyòu 嘉祐 to Yuányòu 元祐 decades (c. 1050–c. 1090). Author of two complementary single-dynasty painting catalogues: KR3h0014 Wǔdài mínghuà bǔyí 五代名畫補遺 (preface 1059), supplying twenty-four Five-Dynasties painters omitted from Hú Qiáo 胡嶠’s lost Liángcháo mínghuà lù; and KR3h0015 Sòngcháo mínghuà píng 宋朝名畫評 (compiled under Zhézōng, c. 1086–1100), the first comprehensive catalogue of Northern Sòng painters. Cháo Gōngwǔ’s Dúshū zhì miscalls him Liú Dàochéng 劉道成; the correct form is preserved in Chén Zhènsūn’s Shūlù jiětí and in the Sòng print Máo Jìn reproduced. Beyond these two works, his career is otherwise unrecorded.
