Yìnshùn 印順

Twentieth-century Chinese Buddhist monk-scholar and the most influential systematic Buddhist thinker of the modern Chinese Buddhist tradition. Disciple of 太虛 Tàixū; principal exponent of the Rénjiān fójiào 人間佛教 (“Buddhism in the Human Realm”) synthesis. Author of more than forty volumes including Yìnshùn fǎshī zhùzuò quánjí 印順法師著作全集 — his collected works are the foundational corpus of modern Chinese Buddhist systematic theology. His Madhyamaka-leaning interpretation of doctrinal history and his critical reading of the canonical texts have shaped two generations of Taiwanese and overseas Chinese Buddhist scholarship.
