Shòujiào 受教
Late-Míng Tiāntái-school monk, direct disciple of 傳燈 Yōuxī Chuándēng 幽溪傳燈 (1554–1628) at the Gāomíngsì 高明寺 on Mount Tiāntái 天台山. Lifedates not recorded with precision. He is the principal transmitter of Chuándēng’s oral teaching on the Jìngtǔ shēng wúshēng lùn: his major work — the 《淨土生無生論親聞記》 Jìngtǔ shēng wúshēng lùn qīnwén jì KR6p0071 (X1168, 2 juǎn) — preserves the lectures Chuándēng delivered on his own Lùn, recorded qīnwén 親聞 (“personally heard”) by Shòujiào during his discipleship at Gāomíngsì. The work is therefore not Shòujiào’s independent commentary but the textual transmission of Chuándēng’s authoritative oral exposition. Probably composed in the 1620s, near the end of Chuándēng’s life or shortly thereafter. Beyond this work no substantial biographical record survives.
