Wú Yǎn 吳儼 (1457–1519), Kèwēn 克溫, posthumous shì Wénsù 文肅, of Yíxīng 宜興 (Chángzhōufǔ, Jiāngsū). Chénghuà 23 / dīngwèi (1487) jìnshì; office reached Nánjīng Lǐbù shàngshū. Míngshǐ main biography: xìng fāngyán cāolǚ qīngshèn (disposition square-and-strict, conduct pure-and-careful); for prose zhuāngzhòng jiǎngǔ (dignified-and-weighty, simple-and-ancient); for poetry qīnglì kěfěng (clear-and-beautiful, capable-of-recitation). At the beginning of Zhèngdé he was zhǔkǎo (chief examiner) of the Shùntiān metropolitan-region examination and, holding that as a minister, one may not lightly set examination topics, was angered upon by Liú Jǐn 劉瑾 and dismissed by fēiyǔ (flying-words); on Liú Jǐn’s execution was restored to office. The Wú Wénsù zhāigǎo in 4 juǎn (KR4e0140) was selected by the Yí-xīng-fellow Wáng Shēng 王升, the Wǔjìn Zhuāng Xù 莊煦, and his grand-nephew Dákě 達可 in Wànlì jiǎshēn (1584) and printed by his grandson Shìyù 士遇.
