Wú Kuān 吳寬 (1435–1504), zì Yuánbó 原博, hào Páoān 匏菴 / Páowēng 匏翁, posthumously shì Wéndìng 文定; native of Chángzhōu 長洲 (Sūzhōu, Jiāngsū). Chénghuà 8 (1472) jìnshì dì yī (zhuàngyuán); appointed Hànlínyuàn xiūzhuàn. Tutor of the future Xiàozōng (Hóngzhì emperor) while Crown Prince. Rose to Lǐbù shàngshū 禮部尚書. Master calligrapher of the Wú-school (Sūzhōu) tradition; teacher of Wén Zhēngmíng 文徵明 and elder colleague of Shěn Zhōu 沈周, Zhù Yǔnmíng (祝允明), and Wáng Áo (王鏊). His prose, self-edited in the Páowēng jiācáng jí 匏翁家藏集 in 70 juǎn, (KR4e0131 = catalog title Jiācáng jí 家藏集), was personally compiled by him and posthumously printed by his son Shē 奭 (zhōngshū shèrén) at Lǐ Dōngyáng’s recommendation.
