Mid-Míng official and anthologist. CBDB id 128888, dates 1496–1574. Bócháng 伯常. Native of Kūnshān 崑山 (Sūzhōu, Jiāngsū). Jìnshì of Jiājìng gēngxū (1550) per SKQS — though CBDB has him as earlier; this would make him much older than typical at jìnshì. (CBDB dates may be of different person; SKQS reliably places him as mid-Jiā-jìng.)

The Jiāngnán tōngzhì gives his name as “周後淑Zhōu Hòushū, which the SKQS editors identify as a transcription error.

Served as Sìchuān ànchásī fùshǐ (Vice Commissioner of Surveillance for Sìchuān) under Jiājìng. During this tenure he compiled the KR4h0109 QuánShǔ yìwén zhì 全蜀藝文志 (64 juǎn), the canonical Míng regional documentary anthology of Sìchuān — prefaced Jiājìng rényín (1542), 4th month. The work is methodologically significant for establishing the regional yìwén zhì genre as a parallel to the dynastic-history yìwén zhì.
