Zhōu Fāng 周方 (zì Guīyī 歸一, hào Zhìzhēn zǐ 至真子) was a Northern-Sòng Daoist hermit of Shàoshì shān 少室山 (the western peak of the Sōngshān 嵩山 complex in Hénán), active in the early eleventh century. His autograph preface to Zhìzhēn zǐ lónghǔ dàdān shī 至真子龍虎大丹詩 KR5a0281 (DZ 269) is dated Tiānshèng 天聖 4, jiǔyuè jiǔrì (Double-Ninth) — i.e. 9 October 1026. The preface describes him as a recluse in unofficial dress (bùyī 布衣) who in the course of his wanderings around the JīngLuò 京洛 area encountered an enlightened master from whom he received transmission of the Dragon-and-Tiger elixir doctrines. The work was later presented to the throne by an official surnamed Lǚ — most likely Lǚ Tiānjì 呂天驥 (whose official title corresponds exactly to the one given in the Zhìzhēn zǐ poems’ presentation note), who is known to have presented another alchemical text to the throne between 1111 and 1117 (cf. [[KR5d0905|Cāntóng qì wǔ xiānglèi bìyào]] 1a). CBDB has multiple homonyms (id 39943 et al.); none has lifedates matching this Zhōu Fāng. Schipper-Verellen (2004) 2:799 cites the preface dating.
