Táng Jiǎn 唐儉
Zì Màoyuē 茂約. Native of Bīngzhōu 并州 in Tàiyuán 太原 (modern Shānxī). Lifedates 579–656.
One of the founding general-officials of the Tang. A principal advisor to Lǐ Yuān 李淵 (the future Tang Gāozǔ) in the Tàiyuán uprising of 617; subsequently held Lǐbù shàngshū 禮部尚書, Mínbù shàngshū 民部尚書, and was the principal Tang diplomatic envoy in the early consolidation of the empire. Enfeoffed as Jǔguó gōng 莒國公.
As an early-Tang historiographer, he was one of the five compilers of the Zhōu shū (KR2a0022) under Lìnghú Détén’s chief editorship.
