Táng Yuán 唐元 (1269–1349; Sìkù tíyào derives b. 1269 from a self-noted age 77 in the Zhìzhèng yǐyǒu 1345 Zhū Kèyòng zǒngguǎn shīhuì xù, hence b. Xiánchún 5 = 1269; this matches CBDB), zì Chángrú 長孺. Native of Shèxiàn 歙縣 (Huīzhōu). Tàidìng dīngmǎo (1327) appointed Píngjiānglù xuélù; re-appointed Jiàndélù Fēnshuǐ xiàn jiàoyù; ended as Huīzhōulù xué jiàoshòu retired. Author of Yìdàyì jiànwén lù and other jīngshù works. Sìkù tíyào judges Táng’s compositions “hépíng wēnhòu zhī yīn” (peaceful and gentle tones), reflecting the Yuánshèng (Yuán-prosperity) era. Catalog (Zhū Wénxuǎn xíngzhuàng) records original output as Jìngtáng zázhù, Sīlè zázhù, Wúmén zázhù, Fēnyáng zázhù, Jīnlíng zázhù, Lǎoxué cónggǎo — almost 1000 pieces, edited as 50 juǎn by his son Guìfāng 桂芳. The present 13-juǎn recension is Chéng Mǐnzhèng’s 程敏政 edition of Tángshì sānxiānshēng jí — only 1/4 of the original.
